There is an initial set up of things that you need to buy when you get your bearded dragon. After this, you will only need to replace bulbs once in awhile and buy food regularly. Here is a list of what you will need to buy to keep a bearded dragon as a pet.
Our bearded dragon has paper towels for now and later will graduate to a reptile carpet. She has a paper towel roll to “play” with because she likes to climb over it and rest on it.
A common bearded dragon can be anywhere from $40 to $70. For special breeds they can run as high as a few hundred dollars! You can purchase them at pet stores, from breeders, reptile expos and even online. (We got ours at PetSmart on sale $20 off for a total of $40.
- A 20, 30 or 40 gallon tank. (A young bearded dragon can live in a 20 or 30 gallon tank but an adult will need a 40 gallon.) You will need a screen top for your terrarium.
