I am baking Pi Pies to celebrate. Each family member likes their own kind of pie though so I had to do individual pies. (Uh, no. I am not “making” pies. I said “Baking” with a “B”.)

Luckily bakeries and grocery stores sell individual pies. There are even frozen pies that can be microwaved in 5 minutes! Have some fun with your child by having a bit of dessert in no time at all for pi day.

FUN FACTS about Pi Day & Albert Einstein

 

  • Pi is a number represented by 3.14 which is why March (3) 14th was picked to celebrate.
  • People from all over the world recognize pi day.
  • What is pi?  It is the Greek letter “π” symbol used in math to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. This number is 3.14159 but really this number goes on and on.

  • Einstein was the most famous scientist of all time. He was a physicist who created the Theory of Relativity and produced the most famous equation ever E = mc². This means energy equals mass multiplied by the speed of light squared.
  • Einsteins was against racism. He was friends with a founder of the NAACP named W.E.B. Dubois and during a 1946 speech Einstein called racism “a disease”.
  • Albert Einstein loved music, especially the violin, and said that if he was not a scientist he would choose to be a musician.
