Turmeric Curcumin
While dealing with knee issues from a lifetime of exercising, hiking and running a friend of mine suggested that I take a look at Turmeric Curcumin as an alternative. I actually worked with a vitamin company in my marketing job that was promoting this same supplement so I did have some knowledge about it. I did not know all the health benefits it boasts and upon learning them, I ordered Turmeric Curcumin the same day that she suggested it to me.
Simply put, Turmeric is the yellow in Curry and Curcumin is a compound in Turmeric. India has used Turmeric as a healing supplement for decades and now that research and science has progressed, there is evidence to prove that they have been on the right track. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
How Much to Take
In order to consume enough Turmeric to get health benefits you have to have at least 1 teaspoon per day for a daily health regimen and up to 3 teaspoons during a treatment period. The easiest way to consume this is through concentrated Curcumin in capsule form. (You can take between 500 mg. and 2 grams twice daily for normal health and up to 3-4 grams per day for treatment.)
How to Take
It is critical to note that curcumin can not be absorbed into the body without being paired with black pepper. It also must be consumed with fatty foods! If you do not follow these two guidelines, you won’t see the results you need because it will go right through your digestive system with no good effects. Get a supplement that contains bioperine (piperine) or swallow a few black peppercorns with your pills. As well, take them with foods such as avocado, salmon, peanut butter, cheese etc. This gives optimal conditions for absorption to reap the maximum benefits of it’s healing and preventative properties.
