Reaching fitness, diet and health goals are always on our minds. Whether we are actively pursuing those goals or not is up to us. Staying motivated to make changes to our lives takes a lot of will power and self control. Maybe your goal is to eat less, to eat healthier or to eat differently all together! Perhaps you are wanting to get more active, lose some pounds or bulk up on lean muscle mass. Whatever changes you want to make comes down to one thing only . . . taking action!
Really! You can plan and make lists. You can be too busy and have too many excuses. . . or, you can get up and do anything at all that will get you moving toward your goal.
Don’t know where to start?
Afraid that if you start again you will fail again?
Let’s make this easy and successful. . .
1. Work out hard.
Sign up for a personal trainer or fitness class even if it is only once or twice a week to keep you on track and showing up to the gym.
If you are on a budget look for ways to save money on trainers and classes. Use Groupons and other specials to try out classes from zumba to yoga to boot camp. Shop around for trainers and sign up with friends to reduce the cost!
Remember that to burn calories you have to elevate your heart rate, breath hard and sweat. If you are not feeling pushed to your limits and exhausted during your workout, you’re doing it wrong.
2. Eat right, always.
Want to make your eating sabotage free?
Don’t buy foods that will undermine your will power. Do your kids or partner love to keep ice cream or cookies in the house? Tell that that they are going to have to indulge away from home for awhile while they support you in avoiding temptation and eating well. Once you get on track and feel how amazing eating right makes you feel, it will be much easier to say “no” to unhealthy foods.
Want to make it really easy and successful? Clear your head, save some money and use your time for fitness instead of meal planning. Order your meals from Diet-to-go and let them do all the work to make certain that you are eating the exact amount healthy calories that you need each day, each week, each month…Think about the extra time you can spend getting fit when you don’t have to plan, shop or prepare any meals!
“At Diet-to-Go, we take the effort out of healthy eating. All of our restaurant quality meals are perfectly portioned, nutritionally balanced and ready to eat. We include all the extras like fruits, sides and even the condiments so there’s no shopping, no preparation, no clean-up – and best of all – no guilt.”
Making changes may get easier in a few days or it may be difficult for awhile. They point is that you are doing good for yourself by making changes (like running up and down the stairs until you are sweating like a freak show). What matters is that you are drinking more water and eating a fresh fruit and veggie that you didn’t used to have. What is important is that you are pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to accept healthy portions, or increase your push ups and jumping jacks by a little more each day.
I guarantee that it will NOT be easy.
I promise that it WILL be life changing and empowering.
Make sure to talk to your doctor about any health or medical risks that you need to take into consideration when modifying your diet and exercise. You can also check to see if your insurance provides any type of nutritional or physical support or evaluation. Sometimes programs will be covered by insurance if it leads you to a healthier lifestyle. Community organizations and public health centers may also be a resource.
