Need a fast and fun foodtivity for little chefs? This one is fairly easy for little children to manipulate on their own with little mess at the end. Everyone loves an Easter egg hunt and these little grass nests with colorful eggs are a fun representation of this tradition. For this recipe you will need:
- bag of marshmallows
- box of rice crispy cereal
- butter or margarine
- green food coloring
- spray oil
- small egg candies
First mix and make the rice krispy treats with green food coloring. Keep children away from the how stove and hot treats.
Turn the hot treats into greased muffin tins to shape the nests. Let cool enough to where little hands can touch the treats without getting burned.
Give each child a nest and some candies. Let them form the nest and push the egg candies into the grass. Set aside to harden. If you are doing this activity with a big group of children you can set a place with a piece of construction paper with each child’s name on the paper. Then when the nests are hardening and cooling, kids can go play and pick them up at the end of the day. Happy Easter everyone!
