Though many places in the world have begun to reopen their economies, the coronavirus pandemic isn’t over yet. Until an effective vaccine is created, everyone needs to take extra precautions to keep themselves and others safe and to mitigate the spread. The everyday essentials list is changing, but a few items are considered must-haves for your wardrobe and your protection. Read on to find out what they are.

1. Face Masks

Once a mainstay for medical workers and anyone battling the flu, facial masks have become a necessity with many establishments prohibiting entry to those not wearing the facial coverings. Face masks and surgical masks often sell out quickly, so buy a new pack of disposables ahead of time to tide you over. You can also purchase handmade ones or make your own to pair with your outfits and look fashionable while doing your part.

2. Hand Sanitizer

Like facial masks, hand sanitizer is relatively tricky to come by. If you’re one of the lucky ones to have an arsenal of the stuff, pat yourself on the back and keep some handy in your handbag or pocket. It’s an effective way to sanitize your hands when you can’t wash them at a sink. Be careful not to use too much, though, as it can dry out your hands and irritate them. Should this occur, try to moisturize your hands with lotion or hand cream.

3. Disinfecting Wipes

The pandemic has no doubt left everyone paranoid about germs. Disinfecting wipes like the ones made by Clorox and Lysol are designed to eliminate the presence of germs and bacteria from many surfaces, so they’re a staple to have in the household. Use them to disinfect your phone and other electronics, also—they are very safe to use on screens.

4. Gloves

While gloves are not necessarily mandatory to wear, it’s still a good idea to carry a few pairs just to be on the safe side. Thankfully, simple disposable gloves are sold in packs of at least 100 so there are pairs for everyone you know and yourself. They can come in handy at the grocery store or anywhere that requires touching multiple things. If you’re feeling in fashion, purchase a pair of reusable gloves; just wash them after every use.

Doing one’s part in the plan to stop the spread is a simple feat that carries much significance. Stock up on what you don’t have when you’re able to and stay safe.
