DIY Upcycled Cardboard Parking Garage for Toy Cars

When the weather is not suitable for playing outside moms have to make the best of entertaining kids indoors. With some cardboard recyclables and a few supplies you can make your child a fantastic parking garage play set for their small toy cars. Here’s what to do. . .

Supplies:

  • Flat piece of cardboard (15” X 7” flap from a box)
  • Cardboard box (7 ½” x 5” x 3” Suddenly Salad box)
  • 4 toilet paper tubes
  • 3 sheets of red construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black marker

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut the bottom of the box off and set aside. Cut the box in half the long way. Set one piece aside.

Step 2: Cover the outside of the ½ box with red construction paper (secured with the glue gun).

Step 3: Cover the toilet paper tubes with red construction paper.

Step 4: Use the glue gun to attach the toilet paper tubes to the bottom of the box (as shown).

Step 5: Glue the bottom of the toilet paper rolls to the large piece of cardboard.

Step 6: Get the other side of the box and use the flaps to attach it to the edge of the other box as a ramp (as shown). Cut the flaps from the bottom edge so it looks clean against the ground. Cover the edges with red construction paper.

Step 7: Use the bottom piece of the box from step one and cover it with red construction paper. Use the marker to write the word “PARKING” near the top.

Step 8: Glue the PARKING sign to the edge of the bottom piece of cardboard.

Step 9: Use the black marker to draw parking spots on the cardboard levels. Draw arrows up and down on the ramp to show where cars should drive.
