My son invented this fresh juice recipe without the alcohol, and it was very tasty! You can make it without the alcohol like he did for a delicious and refreshing mocktail, or add the booze for an adult beverage that will take you away to your happy place. We named it Watermelon Tiki Punch Cocktail Recipe. I hope you get to try it soon!

Watermelon Tiki Punch Cocktail Recipe - jenny at daperhouse blog

What you need:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups watermelon juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1 can ginger ale
  • 2 shots of grapefruit flavored vodka
  • 2 shots of watermelon vodka
  • ice
  • limes
  • chunks of pineapple
  • bamboo skewers

Makes about 6 cups.

How to Make It:

1.) In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and simmer over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, set in the refrigerator or freezer and chill.

2.) Cut a medium sized watermelon in half and scoop out the melon leaving the white part of the rind intact.

3.) Put the watermelon into a colander and set the colander on top of an large bowl. Use a potato masher to push the juice out until you have about 2 cups.

4.) To that bowl, add 1 cup of pineapple juice and 1/2 cup lime juice and stir. Refrigerate until chilled.

5.) Add sugar mixture and alcohol to the juice and stir. (Add pineapple juice or watermelon juice if you wish, to taste. I like mine with more watermelon juice.)

6.) Make a very slight cut across the bottom of the melon half so that it will sit upright without tipping. Be careful to not cut so deep that the bottom will leak.

7.) Fill the watermelon rind half full of ice and pour the chilled juice over the ice cubes. Add the ginger ale.

8. Cut two limes in thin slices and add to the juice in the watermelon rind. (Serve from the rind with a drink ladle.)

9.) Use the remaining juice, ice and splash of soda ice to fill glasses.

10.) Garnish with a slice of lime along with skewers of watermelon and/or pineapple.
