The Daily Treat is one of the best online newsletters for dog owners and dog lovers. It is one of my personal favorite resources where I go for information when I have questions about my own dog Reese. This time of year I get concerned about what Reese can and can not eat. We don’t indulge him with people food but he is fast to snatch up anything we drop on the floor. The experts at Rover.com have a fun and informative article about foods that dogs can and can not eat that are more commonly made and eaten this time of year, but that are also found in homes year round.

Here are a few types of foods from the article. Try to guess which ones your dog can and can’t eat. . .

  • apples
  • green bean casserole
  • yogurt
  • apple pie
  • pumpkin pie

Now go to the article here and see if your answers are correct.

And now that you have tested your knowledge and read the article and , you can watch this incredibly adorable video of a dog making pumpkin pies! (Yep, you heard me right.) You are going to love it!

Remember to keep your dogs safe by keeping human food out of their reach and only giving them foods that you want them to have. Happy Holidays!

  1. I didn’t realize that they could eat some of these but I guess it makes sense, they had to eat something before dog food.

  2. Such great things to know when it comes to what your dog can and can’t have. Sometimes we as humans do not think about the ill effects certain foods can have on our dogs. My grandparents used to give their poodle ice cream only to find out later it was a no-no and she loved Maple Walnut ice cream. I also loved your cute pictures.

  3. Oh wow. I didn’t know they could eat pumpkin pie! My Kaia is gonna live that! That video is awesome. Made my day, love how the pooch helped with the baking. Too cute. I’m gonna have to help my baby make some too.

  4. It is absolutely important to only give them the foods that you want them to have. Accidents are too often prone to happen when food is left out.

  5. I don’t have a dog anymore, but I had no idea all of the foods and table scraps that we give our pets that they really shouldn’t have! This is really helpful for those with pets around the holidays, thanks for sharing!
